PHOTO-LETTERING
4.24.11
Hey there!
Here is something I stumbled on from one of my favorite type foundries - HOUSE INDUSTRIES.
They have recently launched a gorgeous website featuring Photo-Lettering. YOU MAY BE ASKING: What is this mysterious photographing of letters you speak of?
Well, you can set your own type with any font they have on their new Photo-lettering site (you have 45 fonts to choose from). Buy it for 7 bucks and then HI sends you a vector file of the font you created.
WHY SHOULD I USE PHOTO-LETTERING INSTEAD OF JUST BUYING A FONT? (From the House Industries site)
- Alphabets are added monthly
- Enhanced lettering features
- Inexpensive
- Easy to use
- Few licensing restrictions
- Scalable and editable vector outlines
- Consistency for multiple settings in multiple locations
- Easy remote collaboration
I don't know if I am completely sold on it. It kind of makes sense, right? Why spend so much money on a font if you only want it for one word or phrase?
I guess it's up to the designer to know if the font they are using will be a one hit wonder. If it has the potential to be used for other projects then just buy the whole font and save some moolah in the long run.
PS - I just tried to typeset the whole alphabet and look what it generated! Oh you're good House Industries! Soooo Good! ;)

SPRING CLEANING
4.17.11
It's been awhile :)
Well, a lot has changed since my last blog post. I have been mostly trying to get things in order - apartment, underwear drawer, my receipt stash (thank the sweet baby jesus taxes are over and sent!) & my spankin new website!
My old site was kind of a nightmare to update that's why I never really put new work up (not a good reason - i know :). Soooo I have been working with this amazing dev studio; Dom & Tom, for months now and the end product is what you see before you.
My Blog and Shop are integrated into this site for supreme easy-ness. Added a Links page that will be updated occasionally. Broke up my work into five different categories which makes it easier for people to see what they would like to see. Custom fonts are all throughout the site using Cufon. My favorite update is that I can add work anytime I want within minutes using Joomla! Plus, I just got a new twitter account but I'm still trying to get into that one.
I will be posting weekly about random cool designerly things that tickle my fancy and which will hopefully tickle yours too - purrrrr ;)
Let me know what you think and most importantly - ENJOY!
